Easter traditions in the United States

 Easter

Easter, in most Catholic countries, revolves around the death and subsequent resurrection of Christ. In many places, such as Spain, there are great celebrations during these dates, all related to religion. However, it is not in all corners of the world the same.

In the United States, for example, they have other customs at this time that are not linked to religion.

American Traditions

On Easter Sunday, each family organizes Easter egg hunt in their garden normally or indoors. The parents hide plastic eggs decorated on the outside and filled with candy inside. The children, believing that it is the work of the Easter Bunny, must find them. Apart from finding plastic eggs, there are also eggs cooked and painted and decorated on the outside.

To decorate the eggs, once cooked, food coloring is needed. Pour and dissolve the dye in glasses with water (one glass of water per color). Put one egg per glass, until it is completely dyed the desired color. Afterwards, let it dry outdoors and, finally, add the final decorations with fine brushes and paint. Normally, in the United States, by preventing this activity, you can find kits to decorate eggs in stores.

That same Sunday, the president of the United States invites a few families to participate in Easter egg hunt at the White House.

In California, however, the living Via Crucis is celebrated, a theatrical representation of the life and death of Jesus Christ that attracts more followers of Christianity every year.

The most similar to the Spanish processions are different parades full of color. The most popular is the Florida Easter Parade. This parade begins at the Cathedral of Sant Patricio and passes through Fifth Avenue in New York City. The name of this parade refers to the discovery of the territory of American Florida on Palm Sunday of 1512.
